In June of 2009, Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd. acquired Celanese’s PVOH (polyvinyl alcohol) business, taking control of facilities in Calvert City, KY; Pasadena, TX; one unit within a complex in Tarragona, Spain; as well as resources in the company’s Houston Technology Center. The Celanese acquisition resulted in Sekisui Specialty Chemicals establishing entities in the United States, Europe, and Mexico.
