Bernard Lombard is in charge of trade and industrial policy at Cepi, the Confederation of European Paper Industries, which regroups 500 companies and 900 mills across Europe, ranging from SMEs to multi-nationals with a €90 billion turnover and a global production share of 22%.
A French national with an economic background and a strong experience of public affairs at EU level, he is in daily contact with companies and EU institutions officials advocating on behalf of an industry sector striving for competitiveness, sustainability and jobs. He has an extensive network of contacts with the European Commission and Brussels-based organisations such as Businesseurope, the Alliance for a Competitive European Industry, the European Shippers’ Council and AEGIS Europe where he chairs the Carbon Border Adjustment Task Force.

Janet Preston joined English China Clays Int. (now IMERYS Minerals) in 1985 and has worked in the areas of coatings research, in the area of paints, inks paper coating and in printing science.
Whilst working at Imerys Janet graduated from University of Plymouth with an honours degree in Applied Chemistry. She then gained a PhD in Chemistry with the Interface Analysis Centre, University of Bristol, where she studied ink and coated paper interactions. Janet has around 90 publications in this area. She is currently a senior scientist in the company’s Carbonate Group.
In 2007 Janet was appointed as an Adjunct Professor (Docent) at Abo Akademi University in Finland, in the Laboratory of paper coating and converting.

Fleur Rol was born March 15, 1992. She graduated from the engineering school Grenoble INP Pagora (International school of paper, print media and biomaterials) in 2015 and she obtained a Ph.D. in Materials from Université Grenoble Alpes (France) in 2019.
She is specialized in paper, biomaterials and especially microfibrillated cellulose. She has skills in materials characterization but also on materials processing.
Dr Guy Newcombe is CEO at Archipelago Technology, www.archipelagotechnology.com , a Cambridge-based company focused on developing precision droplet creation and deposition systems. Guy studied physics at the Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge, UK before embarking on a career in the world of inkjet and microfluidics. In the course of the past 30 years Guy has created technology in piezo, electrostatic and continuous inkjet. At Archipelago Technology, he is driving the development and applications of the Powerdrop print platform.
Ping-keung Lui is Chairman of Bloomfield Group. Bloomfield Group, owned by the Lui family of Hong Kong, had its beginning in flax farming and fiber processing at Datong, Shanxi Province, China, in the early nineties last century. It extended downstream to specialty pulp making at Xingtai, Hebei Province, China, in the early years of this century, and since then its 10,000-tonne-capacity mill has been always running.

Dr Vinay Kumar is a Senior Scientist at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. He has been at VTT for almost four years. The main goal of his research work at VTT is to develop innovative solutions for improving the competitiveness of the forest products industry and sustainability for the world.
He has developed novel methods for large-scale processing of nanocellulose suspensions into coatings and films for various applications ranging from sustainable packaging to flexible electronics. In addition, he has expertise on various barrier and dispersion coating technologies for paper and board packaging applications.
He did is Doctoral and Master studies in Chemical Engineering from Åbo Akademi (Finland), and he holds a Bachelor of Technology degree from IIT Roorkee (India).

Graduated in formulation chemistry from ENSCL (Lille, France), Nicolas Lesueur joined Roquette in 2011 as a Business Developer for the paper market in France, Benelux and Switzerland. In line with his role, he provided technical support to his target customers and helped them develop the required solutions.
In 2017, he brings his experience in development for surface sizing and coating color, taking on the role of Coating Scientist.

Then he earned his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, developing a new type of dynamic covalent chemistry named ‘hindered urea bond’ for smart materials design. With Dow, he developed expertise in polyolefin dispersion (POD) derived coating materials for various sustainable industrial solutions in paper packaging, metal beverage/food packaging, lamination adhesive, etc. He has authored 18 peer-reviewed publications and 6 patents in his career.

More than 30 years experience in pulp and paper industry, both in end-user, production and supplier environment, I have a passion for papermaking and process control, as well as understanding the drivers along the value chain of paper products.
Currently holding a European marketing position for Board & Packaging at Nalco Water, closely mixed with technical development, brings me close to paper mills addressing needs in paper products as well as operational challenges and restrictions.
Living in Sweden
Started with the mill (at that time Peterson Scanproof) in 1998 as laboratory engineer and after a few years worked as process engineer. In 2002 a PhD project on Barrier coating for grease proof paper was started. During that project the position at the mill was as development engineer. The PhD thesis was finalized in 2007. In the two years 2010-2011 the position was as Product Development Manager covering both business units Kraft and Greaseproof in Nordic Paper. The commercial side was entered in 2012 as an Area Sales Director Greaseproof for Central Europe and Middle East. The current position from 2016 is as Product Manager Greaseproof, which covers the responsibility for the products produced in the two mills Greåker (Norway) and Säffle (Sweden).
