Caroline LOCRE has an engineering degree in papermaking and joined CTP in 2013 as Project Leader in the fields of surface treatments of papers and boards, barrier materials, and food contact materials.
She currently coordinates the Sherpack project and participates in several R&D projects related to surface treatment of papers and boards and development of new food contact materials with specific barriers properties. Interactions between cellulosic packaging materials and foodstuffs are one of her favoured research topics. Assessment of the compliance of (sometimes new) food contact cellulosic materials with EU regulation is also part of her activities.

Janet Preston joined English China Clays Int. (now IMERYS Minerals) in 1985 and has worked in the areas of coatings research, in the area of paints, inks paper coating and in printing science.
Whilst working at Imerys Janet graduated from University of Plymouth with an honours degree in Applied Chemistry. She then gained a PhD in Chemistry with the Interface Analysis Centre, University of Bristol, where she studied ink and coated paper interactions. Janet has around 90 publications in this area. She is currently a senior scientist in the company’s Carbonate Group.
In 2007 Janet was appointed as an Adjunct Professor (Docent) at Abo Akademi University in Finland, in the Laboratory of paper coating and converting.
Memberships: Chartered Chemist & Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Tappi (Former chairperson of the Tappi Fundamentals CIG), Member of the FRC Committee (The Pulp and Paper Fundamental Research Soc.).
Janet is married to David and has a daughter Laura.
Mia Ahokas has a PhD (Tech.) degree in Chemical Engineering at Åbo Akademi University in Finland. She has been studying bio-based materials and been involved in barrier development and characterization at CH-Polymers since 2016.

Jochen Schlegel studied chemical and process (paper) engineering. He has more than 30 years experience in the paper and board industries, amongst other things. He is an independent expert for speciality paper and board grades since 2009.
Dr. Rafik Allem
Dr. Rafik Allem is a Lead Scientist at FPInnovations. He received his Doctorate in Materials Science at INPL Lorraine, France and held a post-doctoral fellowship at École Polytechnique, Montréal. At FPInnovations he has led various research projects related to the performance of paper, board and tissue products. His current interests include developing highly extensible paper, bio-based barrier coatings for advanced packaging products, and exploring the use of biomaterials.

Marion Sterner, working as head of R&D, is shareholder in Gruppo X di X Gruppo srl, a company generating patents on innovations in the packaging and mainly paper sector, developing them with industrial partners and licensing patents, know how and technology. Lydia Tempel is head of the Department `Recycling and Digitalization´, in the business unit ‘Smart Services & Products ’. She holds an engineering diploma in ‘Waste Management and Contaminated Sites’. Since 2009 she has worked at PTS, contributing and managing various research and consultant projects in the area of recycling.
Her fields of expertise are recovered paper management, circular economy, recyclability and end-of-life strategies for fibre-based products.
Emmanuelle Henry Lanier

Emmanuelle Henry-Lanier worked for more than 10 years at PwC Advisory within Sustainable Development Team as expert in Life Cycle Analysis. Her research has been focused on the Corporate Social Responsibility, Life Cycle Analysis of product and services and Ecodesign approaches– for various activity sectors (bio-sourced products, Aluminous product, Cement, construction).
Emmanuelle Henry-Lanier joined Kerneos in 2011 to define and implement a Corporate Social Responsibility Program with a strong focus in R&D to develop new ecodesigned Products. She was also in charge of compliance with EU regulations on environment issues (CO2 ETS trading, monitoring of emissions from manufacturing plants …).
She currently holds the position of Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at Imerys, world leader in mineral-based specialties for Industry, and she is in charge of the implementation of Product Sustainability Assessment (PSA) methodology.

Andreas Faul graduated in paper technology at the Munich University of Applied Sciences. He worked at Steinbeis Papier, one of the pioneers of deinking and production of recycled papers, for 16 years – starting his professional career in the laboratory and changed to technical marketing and later to research and development for treatment of paper for recycling and mechanical pulp. After this, his duties were in the licensing and consulting departments.
Since 1999 Andreas Faul has been working as consultant, today as managing director and partner of PROPAKMA, located in Southwestern Germany. PROPAKMA is an independent provider of technological services for the paper industry, also running the office of INGEDE, the International Association of the Deinking Industry. Andreas Faul was appointed as managing director of INGEDE in 2003. Representing INGEDE is Andreas Faul’s main job today.

Dr. Antje Harling is division manager of materials testing and analytics at Papiertechnische Stiftung (PTS) in Heidenau /Dresden, Germany. Dr. Harling is a certified food chemist and expert for food packaging. She has four years of experience in research and laboratory leadership of an official food control laboratory (central laboratory for food contact materials of Baden Württemberg, Stuttgart, Germany), as well as profound experience in R&D in paper and board. She is well versed in consulting with all questions related to food contact materials, physical and chemical testing. She is involved in many DIN and CEN committees for Paper, Board and Tissue (e.g. member of DIN advisory board NPA for paper, board and fibres). From 2018-2022 she is an appointed member of the German BfR commission on consumer products and BfR paper committee, which is the responsible committee for the German BfR paper recommendations XXXVI beyond other.

Alexey is an engineer who’s prime interest is in packaging concept development, scale-up and best possible end-of-life scenarios. His wide ranging areas of professional expertise include paper physics, packaging and specialty papers, paper recycling, flexible paper packaging, barrier paper, moulded pulp, paper converting, filling & packing and packaging sustainability.
Prior to joining Nestlé Alexey was a Research Scientist at VTT and has also held various consulting and innovation roles. He has a B.Sc in pulp & paper technology and an M.Sc in forest bio-refineries from Saint-Petersburg State Forest-Technical University; an M.Sc. in chemical engineering from Lappeenranta University of Technology and a D.Sc (Tech) in paper converting & packaging from Tampere University of Technology.

Since June 2019, Jori Ringman is Director General of the Confederation of European Paper Industries (Cepi). Previously he was Deputy Director General and responsible for issues relating to sustainability, environment and consumer protection, with particular concern for packaging and food contact. Since joining Cepi in 2005 he has been advancing and exploring circular low carbon bioeconomy in the sector.
Prior to 2005, he was a civil servant at the European Commission and a political advisor in the European Parliament.
Mr. Ringman has a background in Economics, Econometrics and Business Management and broad experience in communications, public administration and politics. He also holds an MSc in Environmental Decision-making.

Kirk began his career at 3M in Minnesota, USA, in 1983. There, he spent 16 years with various posts in research and business development.
In 1999, Kirk joined KNH, a leading specialty nonwoven company in Asia as President and then CEO.
On July 1, 2011, Kirk was appointed to Chung Hwa Pulp (CHP) as CEO, and led the integration of the CHP and YFY Paper units. He led the combined entity to refocus business development in specialty pulp & paper and bio-chemicals across operations in both Taiwan and China.
